Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers about the free tier, uptime, and global regions. If it matters to your world, it is covered here.
Free-forever
The free tier is free forever.
Only approved plugins in the workshop can be installed on the free tier. To prevent abuse and keep free servers stable, we limit plugin installs to our vetted list. If you want full freedom to install any plugin, you’ll need to upgrade to a paid plan.
Yes, you can upgrade your plan at any time, including switching between paid tiers. However, please note that downgrading from a paid tier to the free tier is not supported.
We support both Minecraft Java Edition and Minecraft Bedrock Edition servers. However, auto-start on player connect is currently only available for Java Edition. For Bedrock servers, you’ll need to start the server manually from your dashboard.
Free servers don’t run 24/7, but they stay accessible thanks to auto‑start on join, so players can connect at any time and the server will boot automatically (currently supported only on Java Edition). Paid plans include true 24/7 uptime, while on‑demand pricing lets you save money by only running the server when it’s actually in use.
We don’t cap the number of players on your server, so you’re free to invite as many friends as you like. While Minecraft servers default to a 20-player limit, you can easily adjust this in your server configuration to suit your needs.
Storage is a significant cost, so free server data can’t be kept indefinitely. Retention depends on your account status. Verified accounts keep their server data for roughly two months of inactivity, while unverified accounts may be cleaned up after about two weeks. Before any server is removed, you’ll receive an email notification so you have time to take action. Once a server is deleted, the data cannot be recovered. To keep your server active, make sure to start it regularly.
Our servers are currently hosted in Europe, North America, Singapore and Australia, ensuring fast and reliable access across major regions.
