How to keep an instance in its selected region

Only use my selected regions is enabled by default. While it is enabled, the instance runs only in the regions you selected. If those regions have insufficient capacity, the instance waits rather than starting elsewhere.

You can disable restricted scheduling to give the platform more capacity options. When it is disabled, an instance may run in an unselected region if the estimated wait in your preferred regions exceeds your maximum preferred-region wait. This can reduce queue times, but a more distant location may increase latency for players.

• Go to your instance's dashboard.
• Under General information, locate the Regions field.
• Open the region settings using the Edit button, or go to Settings → Regions.

• Select and order your preferred regions.
• Leave Only use my selected regions enabled to keep the instance in those regions. This is the default.
• Disable it if you want to allow unselected regions when the estimated wait in your preferred regions is too long.
• If you allow other regions, set the Maximum preferred-region wait (minutes). When the estimated wait exceeds this limit, the scheduler can try an unselected region.
• Click Save regions.

The scheduler will use your saved preferences when choosing a region for your instance.

Restricting scheduling reduces the available capacity options, which may increase queue times when your selected regions are busy.

• Upgrade to a paid plan to get priority access and help fund more server capacity. Paid instances can still wait when capacity is limited.
• Or, disable the region restriction to allow flexible scheduling and shorter wait times.
