Deleting an instance frees up resources and stops future billing for paid plans. On the free tier it restores your available free instance slots. Billing stops from the time you request termination, but you may see a final prorated charge for the last billing period. The deletion process begins immediately and completes after a 48-hour window.

Before you delete

  • Back up data. Export any files, snapshots, or configuration you need. Managed backups are deleted with the instance and should not be relied on as the only copy.
  • Permissions required. Only the instance owner can terminate the instance. Verify you are signed in with the correct account.

Steps to delete an instance

  1. Open the Instance dashboard.
  2. In the Billing section click Terminate service.
  3. Read the termination configuration and any listed consequences.
  4. Confirm the termination to schedule deletion.

The instance is scheduled for deletion in approximately 48 hours after confirmation. This window cannot be shortened.

What happens after deletion

  • Deletion window. The instance remains in a scheduled state for about 48 hours; you can still cancel during this period if allowed.
  • Resource release. The instance and its allocated resources are released after the deletion window.
  • Billing stop. Charges stop accruing from the termination request time; a final prorated charge may appear for the last billing period.
  • Data retention. Data may be retained for a short period depending on retention policies.

Recovering or cancelling a scheduled deletion

  • Cancel deletion quickly. If you change your mind within the deletion window, return to the instance dashboard and use the cancel option (if available).
  • If cancellation is not available. Contact support immediately and provide the instance ID. If the instance has already been deleted, it cannot be recovered.

Quick note: Always back up important data before terminating an instance to avoid accidental loss.
