How to install mods on your Arma Reforger server

Install Arma Reforger Workshop mods on your PowerupStack server, add required dependencies, save your mod list, and troubleshoot startup issues.

Use the Workshop page in PowerupStack to add Arma Reforger mods by URL or ID. Save your mod list and restart the server to apply the changes; no manual configuration file edits are needed.

Before you start

  • You need access to your instance's Workshop page and permission to change its settings and restart the server.
  • Create a backup before changing your mods, and keep a record of your current mod list.
  • Read each mod's Workshop description for requirements, supported game versions, and known conflicts. Dependencies are other mods that a mod needs to work. Test new mods in small batches so problems are easier to isolate.

Step 1: Browse the Arma Reforger Workshop

  1. Open your Arma Reforger instance in PowerupStack and select Workshop.
  2. Click Browse Workshop to open the official Arma Reforger Workshop.
  3. Find a mod you want to install and open its page.

Step 2: Copy the mod ID or URL

Copy either the full mod page URL from your browser's address bar or the ID shown on the mod page. A mod ID has 16 hexadecimal characters (the digits 0–9 and letters A–F), such as 5965550F24A0C152 in the screenshot below.

Step 3: Add the mod and its dependencies

  1. Return to Workshop in PowerupStack.
  2. Paste the URL or ID into Workshop URL or mod ID, then click Add mod.
  3. Wait for PowerupStack to fetch the mod's name and dependencies.
  4. If Add mod dependencies? appears, review the required mods and click Add all to include them. This prompt appears when dependencies are missing from your configured list.
  5. Check that the mod and any added dependencies appear under Configured mods. Repeat for any other mods you want to install.

Adding a mod here changes the list on the page. You still need to save the list and restart the server to apply it.

Step 4: Save the mod list

Click Save mod list and wait for the message Mod list saved. Restart the server to apply changes. before leaving the page. Unsaved changes means your current edits still need to be saved.

Step 5: Restart the server

Restart the server to apply the saved mod list. Open Console and watch for errors while the server starts. Once it is ready, join in Arma Reforger and check that the mods work as expected.

Troubleshooting

The mod ID or URL is rejected

Use the 16-character mod ID or the mod's official https://reforger.armaplatform.com/workshop/ URL. Copy the individual mod page URL, not the Workshop home page or a search results page. If PowerupStack says the mod is already configured, find it under Configured mods instead of adding it again.

PowerupStack could not fetch the mod

Click Retry to try the Workshop lookup again. You can also choose Add by ID, but this adds the entry without checking its name or dependencies. If you use that option, check the mod's Workshop page and add any required mods yourself before saving and restarting.

The mod list does not save

If saving fails, your changes remain on the page. Follow any validation message, then click Save mod list again. Wait for the success message before leaving or reloading the page. If the button is disabled and the page says No unsaved changes, there is nothing new to save.

The server no longer starts after adding mods

  1. Check Console for errors naming a mod or a missing dependency.
  2. Review the affected mod's Workshop page for requirements and compatibility notes. Add any missing dependencies, save the list, and restart.
  3. If startup still fails, use the trash icon (Remove) next to a suspected newly added mod under Configured mods. Click Save mod list, restart, and check whether the server starts.

Remove suspected mods one at a time to help identify the cause. Keep dependencies that other configured mods still need. If a dependency itself is broken, also remove the mods that require it before testing again.

Mods stop working after a game update

Check the console and the mod authors' Workshop pages for compatibility updates. A mod may need an update from its author before it works with the new game version. Temporarily remove an affected mod using the steps above, then add it again when a compatible release is available. PowerupStack cannot guarantee compatibility between all mods and game versions.
